Moment Mile

In fall 2014, The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film invited photographers—new and seasoned—to participate in Moment Mile. Created and led by Sean Busher, the project sought to build awareness of and support for the museum's recent re-opening. On 1 November, 138 photographers gathered in Uptown Charlotte. At 6:15 p.m., the photographers stood in predetermined spots on the mile-long stretch of Tryon Street and simultaneously clicked their shutters. Then, exactly five minutes later at 6:20 p.m., they did so once again on the opposite side of the street. Stitched together, the two resulting prints – each 100 feet long and 11 inches tall –capture a single moment of a stretch of Charlotte’s urban core and acts as a historical marker of the city circa 2014.

“Participatory projects like Moment Mile are a new avenue that involve the Charlotte community in what we are doing at The Light Factory, and more broadly involve others in the art of film and photography,” said Busher, who is a board member for The Light Factory and a Charlotte advertising photographer.

Moment Mile will be on view from December 17, 2014 through February 22, 2015. The Moment Mile project was generously supported by the Arts & Science Council, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and Wells Fargo.

Arts & Science Council - Imagine 2025

The Arts & Science Council and Kelso Communications commissioned our team to create three images to represent the future of arts, science and history. We are honored to be the creators in charge of envisioning this future! See how it all came together in the behind-the-scenes video below.

Brilliant, engaging, fresh set of eyes – these are just my first thoughts in describing the work Sean and Peter did for the Arts & Science Council – more than photography, more than images, creative storytelling at its finest!

The Descent of Man

We have just completed our first major fine art project - The Descent of Man. It's a nine-image story of Jesus, played by Sean, teaching evolution to elementary school children and then getting sued by an angry parent. Mark your calendars for an opening for this one-of-a-kind, button-pushing exhibition that's sure to cause a stir at the Food Truck Friday field in Charlotte's South End on May 1, 2015.

About

charlotte photographers cgi photography.jpg

Hello and welcome!  Thanks for taking the time to get to know our work.  Hopefully you can tell already that we're passionate about creating great imagery.  I'm a commercial photographer based in Charlotte, NC.  I studied photojournalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill but decided the typical journalism career wasn't for me.  Instead, I started taking on advertising jobs and have been pushing the creative envelope to produce evermore challenging conceptual projects since founding the company in 2001.  I work closely with Peter Godshall, our team's retoucher and animation artist.  He rocks.  His technical abilities are the perfect compliment to the visions in my head, and I think we make a great team. Together we're able to produce any visual an ad agency or corporation may desire.

I love getting to know the interesting people I photograph and the other creatives we collaborate with.  I like jobs that let us travel, and also enjoy big studio productions.  I love sushi, vegetables, and nature.  I find pleasure in putting things on my bucket list and then doing them immediately (though I've still yet to take a long walk in the woods naked).  I'm in my mid-30s, explore the world from a metaphysical perspective, and live in uptown Charlotte with my wife, Heather, and our daughter Mirabelle.

I hope to be able to work with you on a project soon.  Thanks for taking the time to get to know us and our work!

- Sean Busher, Director of Imagination

These guys have soul! From our first meeting together it was obvious that Sean and Peter’s synergy would bring incredible energy to our project. They raised the creative bar on an already ambitious project and produced truly remarkable work.
— Michael Smith, Center City Partners
Sean and Peter don’t just bring a photographic eye to projects, they bring collaboration and a spirit of adventure that really ramps up the work. It’s rare to find this combination of strategic thinking and pure creative passion.
— Marty Kelso, LGA Advertising
Working with Sean Busher Imagery was extraordinary in all aspects. Their philosophy on customer service, communication and true partnership shows this phenomenally talented photographer really ‘gets it’ from a business perspective.
